Description of Quick Shifter

The Quick Shifter CGS (Clutchless Gear System) is an easy to install electronic device which allows to insert the upper gear without closing the throttle and without using the clutch. It is composed by a little electronic unit (eBox)and a mechanical sensor (sMec) which has to be installed in the kinematic drive chain of the gear (typically on the gear leverage conrod).

The control logic of the electronic unit permits to set:

  • Cut-Off time from 10 to 99 ms, by step of 1 ms.

  • Cut-Off time gear by gear.

  • RPM threshold for the device activation.

  • Management speed limiter for Pit Lane.
  • possibility to connect accessories devices as the gear indicator or the flashlights just by Plug&Play connections.

Advantages:

  • faster upper gear insertion in comparison to the standard way of gear changing.

  • limitation of the pitch movement of the bike in the acceleration gear changing phase.

  • better traction thanks to the lesser load transfer in the gear changing.

  • possibility for the rider to maintain all his physical force on the handlebar and psychological concentration on the driving.

  • limitation of the tires wearing...that in race is ever time fine!

Disadvantages:

  • more weight on the bike (also if it's little: almost 200 g!).

  • it creates dependence!...and after it's use everybody grumble over riding bikes without the CGS!
